God's Love: One Year Bible Reading for June 18

Today we read about God's love in the One Year Bible from these verses:

1 Kings 19:1-21
Acts 12:1-23
Psalm 136:1-26
Proverbs 17:14-15

Let's look at the Psalm. In case we don't get the hint, this Psalm in particular really spells it out for us. I mean, the Bible tells us that God IS love. That's what's cool about the phrase "God's love" because it can mean the love that comes from God, like the Psalm talks about, or it can mean "God is love."

But this Psalm makes it abundantly clear. And let me remind you - this is from the Old Testament! Many people think of the New Testament depiction of God being full of love and mercy, but the Old Testament depiction of God being angry and judgmental. Now listen to Psalm 136:

"Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good,

His love endures forever.

Give thanks to the God of gods,

His love endures forever.

Give thanks to the Lord of lords,

His love endures forever..."

And on and on it goes for 26 verses! His love endures forever. His love endures forever.

Do you get the impression that God loves you? Well, this verse tells you to DRINK IT IN. Bask in the fact that God loves you.

Yes, He knows about those things you did. He still loves you. And He's going to make you perfect!

God, thanks for loving us and for convincing us of it.
