Jesus Never Sinned: One Year Bible Reading for May 15

Today we read from the One Year Bible in these verses:

1 Samuel 17:1-18:4
John 8:21-30
Psalm 111:1-10
Proverbs 15:11

Let's look at John. Jesus is telling the people that He does what God tells Him to. He says, "I always do what pleases Him." And that's a BOLD STATEMENT! Think about it. Not only did Jesus always do the right thing, He always did it FOR THE RIGHT REASON. You and me... we don't do that usually. Even when we do the right thing, which is far from always... we often (maybe usually?) do it for the wrong reason. We do it so that we'll feel good. We do it so people will think we're awesome. We do it so people won't criticize us. We seldom do good things for the perfect reason - out of love.

But Jesus did every. Single Time. That's amazing.

When Jesus told the woman caught in adultery that no one threw stones at her because they were all sinners, He said, "Neither do I condemn you," even though He was the only one qualified to throw a stone! But God forgives us. Let's learn to forgive each other.

That's kind of the whole point.

God, thanks for forgiveness. Help us learn to forgive.
