Let's look at the proverb. Whoever promotes peace has joy. We all want joy, right? So how do we "promote peace"? Well, there are many ways. First, bring peace to your own life. Pray regularly. Go to church often. Ask God to bring peace to your inner life. Second, bring peace to your family. Don't stir things up. Be kind to your relatives. Show love and patience when they're difficult. Third, bring peace to all you meet. Say nice things to people. Compliment often. Don't push your opinion on people (no matter how wrong you think they are!). Assume that people are going to be selfish jerks, and be kind anyway.
Lastly, pray for peace throughout the world, especially in hot areas like North Korea, Syria, and Ukraine. God will bring peace to those areas as we ask, though it might take years. Be a peacemaker.
God, thanks for teaching us that peace is the key to joy.
