Wisdom Was There: One Year Bible for February 10

Today we read from the following passages in the One Year Bible:

Exodus 30:11-31:18
Matthew 26:47-68
Psalm 32:1-11
Proverbs 8:27-32

And the verse in Proverbs stands out to me in a big way. See, when you read the book of Job, you hear Job asking God a bunch of "why?" questions. And God listens, like He always does. And then God says, "OK, now brace yourself, Job, and I'm going to ask YOU some questions. Where were you when..." and He goes on to talk about laying the foundations of the world and all of the amazing things that we know of that God has done. He asks the ultimate rhetorical question, "Where were you?" and the answer, of course, was that Job wasn't anywhere around and had no idea how to answer any of His questions.

But.

Today in Proverbs we hear from Wisdom. Wisdom, which is the Old Testament version of Logos from the New Testament, was present when God did those things. Proverbs tells us that Wisdom was there. Wisdom knows. And the good news for you and me and Job, is that we can ask Wisdom. We not only can ask Wisdom questions and get answers that help us live our lives well, but we can ask Wisdom to come live inside of us and make us into new creations. Isn't that amazing?

God, thanks for giving us not just answers, but The Answer.
