Today we read about a man who truly invested really well into the kingdom of God. His name is St John Baptist de la Salle, and we read about him in the book In Caelo et in Terra.
He lived in France in the 17th and 18th centuries, and he did some remarkable things. Mostly, he focused on education. See, there are two truths that we all need to learn. Truth One is that habits are the tools that we use to shape our future selves. If YOU want to be good at something, develop a habit of practicing that thing and you'll get better at it.
Truth Two is that education is the tool we use to shape the future world. If we educate young people to believe in the value of helping the poor and taking care of the less fortunate, then we will shape a future in which these things happen.
St John Baptist de la Salle built schools. In these schools, he taught many things, but one of the most important is he taught boys how to have good, strong, God-filled families. And that creates building blocks upon which to create a great society. We need more of that today. Our present day school system is teaching a ton of nonsense. We need to create schools (like some groups are already doing, like the Dominicans, Benedictines, and Jesuits) that teach godly principles.

God, thanks for using this godly man to teach us how to create godly communities. St John Baptist de la Salle, pray for us.
