you don't have to do it all yourself

For those of you just joining us, I'm spending the year with you and C.S. Lewis. We're reading A Year with C.S. Lewis, which is available for $2.99 from bn.com as an e-book if you'd like to join us.

Lewis today says the same phrase I landed on yesterday! It looks like we're on the same page here... all of us. And today he presses on... to learning from others. Very important. You don't want to reinvent the wheel... or the theology.

We can learn from the way others have experienced God. We can begin to realize more of Him than we ourselves see when we spend time with Him. As long as we listen to each other, keep our minds open, and maybe do some reading.

Have you ever gone somewhere with a really close friend, and a stranger asks your friend a question, and your friend talks about something that they've never told you? It's an odd feeling. It's like... you're MY friend. Why have you never told ME this story??

But that's what happens when different people interact. It brings things out of people that don't come out with other people. That happens with God, too. So if I listen to the way God interacts with my friend, it helps me to know Him better.

God, thank You for giving us other people to listen to, so we can know them - and know You - better.
