what i didn't see coming

so i recently saw the movie 'blindness' with julianne moore.
.
i really like dark movies, especially ones with good endings. i really loved shawshank redemption - very dark, but great ending. i love schindler's list. i even loved texas chainsaw massacre - very dark, but good ending.
.
i didn't like blindness.
.
it is indeed very dark. there are some of the most disturbing scenes i've ever experienced in a movie in this one. and i've seen the saw movies, i've seen hostel parts one and two. i've seen some gruesome stuff.
.
but this movie was just... gross and disturbing and horrible in the middle.
.
then, through no explanation, things are suddenly good again. no one ever explains why everyone went blind. no one ever explains why julianne moore does NOT go blind. no one explains anything. suddenly everything is just good again.
.
but not good enough. the ending was not NEARLY good enough to balance the nasty, painful unpleasant funk created by the middle.
.
i left greatly needing resolution.
