so heh heh.... it's been awhile.

sorry for the lapse there. just got distracted!

i guess i'll review my new phone. it's the latest 'love of my life'.

.
it's the palm centro by verizon. it's in the picture above (in case you hadn't figured that out yet)

.
it does every single thing i've wanted a phone to do for a long time now. i only have two gripes, which i'll get to after i talk about how great it is.

.
for the last 10 years, i've said i was waiting for a phone that would do 4 things. this phone does those 4 things.

.
1) you can browse the internet, quickly and easily. it has a keyboard that is pretty easy to use. the 'blazer' web browser is very fast.

.
2) it's a phone (obviously). it works well, has a touch screen that has huge buttons to use when calling someone. mostly easy to use.

.
3) it's a camera. not a GREAT camera, but a really good one as far as cell phone cameras go.

.
4) it's an mp3 player. there is a slot for a 4gb micro sd card in the side of the phone. i bought a 4gb micro sd on amazon for $8, and now i've got every song i want to listen to on my phone, for my enjoyment anytime. i can customize ringtones (thanks to ventones.com) and have whatever ringtone i want. small gripe: the phone will only play music out of one earphone if you use the standard earphones from verizon. you have to buy a $6 adaptor from radio shack and then use regular headphones if you want stereo sound.

.
it also has all of the good things you expect from your phone these days: planner, alarm (though that takes some figuring out), calculator, etc.

.
now, the gripes: 1) verizon charged me $100 for this phone (after a mail in rebate, and WITH my 'free upgrade' taken off), even though you can get the EXACT same phone at walmart for $30. grrrr...

.
2) it's not user friendly. it DOES all of the things i listed above - easily. but you have to figure it all out. you have to tinker with it and go around obstacles to make it do some of these things. which makes it especially gratifying when you figure it out. but it'd be nice if the friggin phone came with a decent instruction manual that told you how to navigate some of the trickier waters.
.
so all in all - i love the phone. oh - forgot to mention - it even has excel and word on it. so i can make schedules or save lists or whatever, send them to my phone, work with them on my phone, and then send them back to a computer. very cool.
