use your gifts!

Today in the One Year Bible we read from Matthew 25:1-30. Jesus teaches us a very sobering lesson. A man gives his servants some money. One uses it and earns more for his master. The second got less, but he too uses it to earn more for his master. Both are rewarded. The third man buried the money so he wouldn't lose it, and gives it back to his master unused. The master is not happy. He takes the money from the man and gives it to the first man with lots of money. Then he has the last man thrown out into the darkness where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth.

In the story, the money is called "talents", and while this is a coincidence, it has a deep meaning. Because God has given us talents... gifts... and He expects us to use them. What are your gifts? Are you using them? If you don't know what they are, ask people what you are good at. They will usually tell you your gifts. Also ask God to show you your gifts. Then put them to work for Him.

You'll be delighted when you do! And I can tell you from experience that you'll REALLY regret it if you don't.

God, thanks for giving us gifts and talents. Help us use them for You.
