Today in the One Year Bible we read from Matthew 12:46-13:23. Jesus tells a story about some seeds that have different amounts of success in different types of soil. We are the soil in this story, and the truth of the gospel is the seed. If we are good soil, we will bear much fruit!
So how can we be good soil? One way is to keep our soil soft and rich. We can keep it soft by confessing our sins. This softens our hearts, as opposed to the hard hearts that Jesus later refers to.
We can become rich soil by spending time in the Bible and in church so that the wisdom of God enriches us and helps the seeds of the gospel to grow.
God, please help us get our soil ready for Your seeds... and give us lots of fruit!
