do not play with the occult

We read these verses today in the One Year Bible:

2 Kings 15:1-16:20
Acts 19:13-41
Psalm 147:1-20
Proverbs 18:4-5

Paul is healing and doing other miracles in Jesus's name. Some Jewish men, seven sons of a man named Sceva, decided they would do this too. But the demon they were trying to cast out turned on them and beat them all up. They were dealing with spiritual forces they didn't understand. 

As Christians, we don't want to be involved in the occult. Things like ouija boards and astrology are forbidden by the Bible and the church. If we play around with them, we might get beat up like the sons of Sceva... or worse. 

God, thanks for teaching us not to play around with spiritual forces we don't understand.
