We read these verses in the One Year Bible today:
1 Samuel 26:1-28:25
John 11:1-54
Psalm 117:1-2
Proverbs 15:22-23
In John, we read the account of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead. But before He does, He sees Mary and Martha and their sorrow over their dead brother. And out of His deep love for all three of them, Jesus wept.
Jesus sees your sorrow, too. He knows you are suffering. He is not aloof to your pain. He is right beside you, weeping with you as you travel through this valley of tears. He knows, like He knew Lazarus was about to be raised from the dead, that this time of suffering will end and you will know great joy.
But in the meantime, Jesus weeps with us.
God, thanks for being right here with us in our suffering.
