let's live ready

 Today we read these verses in the One Year Bible:

Deuteronomy 32:28-52
Luke 12:35-59
Psalm 78:56-64
Proverbs 12:24 

Let's look at Luke. Jesus tells us plainly that He will return when we do NOT expect Him. So not only can we not predict when He will come back, He tells us clearly that He's gonna come back when we're NOT expecting it.

So what does that mean practically? Well, it means that we must live our lives ready for Him to come back any second. Love our friends AND our enemies. Forgive those who hurt us. Repent of our sins. Take care of the poor (Jesus repeatedly emphasizes how important this is). Pray without ceasing. Be ready for Him to come back at any time.

But also we need to realize that He might not come back for a long time. So let's make sure to invest in our kids and their futures. To make wise decisions for our planet and our communities. Let's make sure that if He comes back tomorrow, we're ready. And if He comes back 2,000 years from now, we won't drop the ball in the mean time.
