Today we read from these verses in the One Year Bible:
Judges 1:1-2:9
Luke 21:29-22:13
Psalm 90:1-91:16
Proverbs 13:24-25
Let's look at Luke. Two different parts of today's reading remind us to keep our guard up. First, Jesus tells us to "be always on the watch" because we don't know when the end will come. And then Satan enters Judas and makes him betray Jesus to the religious leaders who have been trying to find a way to kill Him. The devil literally made him do it.
Now, if you're a Christian, Satan can't enter you. But he can torment you. The Bible tells us that Satan is prowling around like a lion, waiting to pounce on us. So we need to keep up our guard. And if you read Ephesians 6:10-18, it'll tell you exactly what guard you need to put on.
God, thanks for reminding us to keep our guard up - even as we are trusting You.
