fully human, fully divine

Today we read in the One Year Bible from these verses:

Deuteronomy 13:1-15:23
Luke 8:40-9:6
Psalm 71:1-24
Proverbs 12:5-7

Let's look at Luke. This is a great story to illustrate Jesus being fully God and fully human at the same time. He's in a crowd, and a woman comes and just touches his clothes and she's instantly healed. Just think how many people had done the same thing - another verse tells us that people were trying to get close to Him to touch Him so they'd be healed.

But then Jesus stops and asks, "Who touched me?" On one hand, He was fully God and just touching Him would heal you. On the other hand, he was fully human and didn't know who it was that touched Him and was healed. He felt the power "go out of Him" from His divine self, but in His human mind He didn't know who had touched Him and had to ask.

It's amazing how we see evidence of His divinity and His humanity throughout the gospels.

God, thanks for showing us clearly that Jesus was fully God so we can trust Him with our lives, and fully human so He understands our weakness.
