the scattered sheep: One Year Bible Reading for December 27

Today we read these verses in the One Year Bible:

Zechariah 10:1-11:17
Revelation 18:1-24
Psalm 146:1-10
Proverbs 30:33

Let's look at Zechariah. The prophet calls the people sheep. He says they wander like sheep for lack of a shepherd. And that applies to so many people today. The majority of people, probably. Because most people have turned their backs on God today. Most of the western world considers itself post-religious. And the effects are disastrous. They don't know what's important. They have lost the meaning of charity and kindness. Their lives are mean and fearful. They need God.

Pray for the lost. The sheep who have lost their way. The people who wander for lack of a shepherd. And be kind to them. They are of course scared and lonely and directionless. Pray for them.

God, thanks for reminding us to be kind and patient with those who are far away from You.
