Today we read from these verses in the One Year Bible:
Amos 4:1-6:14
Revelation 2:18-3:6
Psalm 130:1-8
Proverbs 29:21-22
Let's look at the Psalm. It says that if God kept a record of our sins, we "couldn't stand". We'd be totally lost, without hope. But "with God there is forgiveness".
The way God treats us is very much like we treat our children, if we're good parents. Does it matter that our little son broke the window? Not very much. What matters is that he learns to be careful and not break things. And what matters even more is that he learns to be honest and tell us when it happens. But what matters even more than that is our relationship with our son. And we don't want his breaking a window to hurt that relationship, which will only happen if he runs away from us and refuses to admit he did it or that he's sorry.
Same way with us and God - as long as we admit we've sinned and say we're sorry and don't run away, He forgives us and our relationship with Him is restored and intact.
That's what's most important.
God, thanks for reminding us that You keep no record of sins - we just need to confess and come back to You.
