the wounds of a friend: One Year Bible Reading for November 6

Today we read from these verses in the One Year Bible:

Ezekiel 14:12-16:41
Hebrews 7:18-28
Psalm 106:1-12
Proverbs 27:4-6

Let's look at the proverb. There are two really good ones here that are related to each other. "Better is open rebuke than hidden love." and "The wounds of a friend are faithful, but an enemy multiplies kisses."

At first glance, they sound very confusing. But think about a good friend who will tell you the TRUTH even when it hurts. Now think about an enemy who tells you call kinds of nice things to your face and then gossips about you behind your back.

Let's strive to be the kind of friend who shows "open rebuke", which means telling someone to their face when they're messing up, and who wounds our friends faithfully - so they heal right.

God, thanks for teaching us to be true friends.
