drawn to holiness: One Year Bible Reading for November 8

Today we read these verses in the One Year Bible:

Ezekiel 18:1-19:14
Hebrews 9:1-10
Psalm 106:32-48
Proverbs 27:10

Let's look at Hebrews. Paul is telling us about the tabernacle and the holy place where the priests used to go to make sacrifices for our sins. And sometimes it's easy for us to fall into the mentality that God is so holy and so OTHER that we have to keep Him at a distance. That if we reach out and touch the ark, we'll be struck dead.

And there's truth to that! But we also have to remember that in the beginning, Adam and Eve walked in the garden and talked to God "face to face". Over time, man's sinfulness put distance between God and man. But then God drew us back to Him, by becoming a man and living in our midst!

And he calls us to draw close to Him every day. To lay aside the sinfulness that tries to put that distance between us again, and to repent of the sins that so easily entangle us. To walk with Him again, praying without ceasing, like Adam and Eve did in the beginning.

He's calling you. Are you listening?

God, thanks for calling us back to You and making us holy so we can walk with You again.
