Titus teaches us how to Facebook: One Year Bible Reading for October 27

Today we read these verses in the One Year Bible:

Jeremiah 51:1-53
Titus 2:1-15
Psalm 99:1-9
Proverbs 26:17

Let's look at Titus. It gives us, believe it or not, some really good advice for how we post on Facebook! He says, "In your teaching show integrity, seriousness, and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us."

This reminds us that every time we interact with people, whether it's face to face or Face to book (so to speak), we should speak in kindness and love. Someone may angrily argue with you about something that you believe in strongly. But yelling at them and calling them names will not do any good, both in the life of the person you're arguing with, and in the lives of all the other people who are reading your conversation.

I heard recently of someone who became a Christian because they admired the way that another FB user answered attacks. Even when the discussion got heated, the Christian was kind and calm in his replies, and the person reading along decided that he wanted to be like that. So he converted.

You never know who's listening - or who's reading.

God, thanks for reminding us to be kind.
