joyful in 2022: One Year Bible Reading for October 28

 Today we read from these verses in the One Year Bible:

Jeremiah 51:54-52:34
Titus 3:1-15
Psalm 100:1-5
Proverbs 26:18-19

Let's look at the Psalm. It's so happy! Let's read the whole thing together:

Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.

Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise: give thanks to him and praise his name.

For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.

God tells us to SHOUT for joy! To be so happy and elated that we jump for joy like the guy in the picture above. And here in 2022, we think we see LOTS of reasons not to do that, right? The world seems out of control and the last thing on our minds is jumping or shouting for joy.

But we need to remember, ESPECIALLY in moments like this, that God has already won.  He has already finished the race and won the fight. He is already making a place for you and me in heaven. Yes, things will get dark from time to time here in this valley of tears. But at the same time, we know that God has everything under control and that He will work everything for our good. So rejoice! Be exceedingly glad! God will make everything come right in the end, perfectly.

You can count on it.

God, thanks for giving us reason to shout for joy - even here in 2022.
