how to be refreshing: One Year Bible Reading for October 13

 Today we read from these verses in the One Year Bible:

Jeremiah 22:1-23:20
2 Thessalonians 1:1-12
Psalm 83:1-18
Proverbs 25:11-14 

And we hear a really vivid and beautiful phrase in the proverb! The writer says that if we want to be "like a snow-cooled drink at harvest time", we should be a trust-worthy messenger. Isn't that delightful? Like in the picture above, a drink that's been snow-cooled would be super refreshing, right?

And God is refreshed when we (His messengers) give people (His children) the message that He's entrusted to us. What is that message? Love. That God loves all of us, and that He wants us to love each other and to love Him. It's really that simple. Everything else is the details of what it means to love people. The way we love God, He says, is to love His children.

So share that love - and that message - with everyone you meet today. And you'll be like a snow-cooled beverage to God.
