You Are Not Alone: One Year Bible Reading for July 16

Today we read from these verses in the One Year Bible:

1 Chronicles 22:1-23:32
Romans 3:9-31
Psalm 12:1-8
Proverbs 19:13-14

Let's look at the Psalm. The writer is sad because he feels like he is the only one trying to do the right thing! He says he's all alone. "Help, Lord. No one is faithful anymore." Ever feel that way? Noah probably felt that way. All of the other humans on the planet (except his sons and wife) were doing so much evil all the time that God said, "OK, that's enough. Go make a boat, Noah, because I'm starting over."

But don't worry. You're not alone! There are lots of us out here, trying to do what God wants us to do. Failing many times, of course. Not perfect by any stretch of the imagination. But trying. Working. Loving. Helping. Being kind.

So catch your second wind, take a deep breath, and keep helping us make the world more like He wants it to be.

God, thanks for reminding us that we're not alone.
