pray for young people: One Year Bible Reading for July 30

Today we read from these verses in the One Year Bible:

2 Chronicles 26:1-28:27
Romans 13:1-14
Psalm 23:1-6
Proverbs 20:11

Let's look at 2 Chronicles. We read about this young man named Uzziah who was made king of Judah when he was only 16 years old! That's a recipe for disaster, right? Of course the power went to his head and he was a terrible king, isn't that the way it goes?

Not this time! Uzziah was a good king. He followed what God told him to do, and strengthened Judah by weakening its enemies. He fought against the foreign gods instead of being tempted to worship them. He was a good king!

The young people today have the potential to be good, too. They grow up in a totally different world than my friends and I did. They are SO CONNECTED to what's happening all over the world, and in each other's lives, all the time. It's hard to keep focus in that kind of world.

So say a prayer for them. Pray that the young people today will learn to do what God calls them to do, like King Uzziah.

God, thanks for telling us that young people can do great things. We pray that You guide them to do Your will.
