You'll Float Too: One Year Bible Reading for June 24

Today we read from these verses in the One Year Bible:

2 Kings 6:1-7:20
Acts 15:36-16:15
Psalm 142:1-7
Proverbs 17:24-25

Let's look at 2 Kings. We see an interesting verse here in which Elisha makes an axe head float. This is one of those times where I wish the writer had taken a little more time to describe it. HOW did he make it float? It said he used a stick. But how?? Anyway, one thing we see here is that God is concerned with the small and practical things in our lives. After all, what is big or impractical to God? But the man is worried because he BORROWED the axe head from someone and doesn't want to lose it. So Elisha asks God's help and God saves the day.

But another thing we see is that God doesn't always obey the laws of gravity. He makes this axe float in water. He Himself lifted up into the sky at the Ascension. And one day, you will float, too. He will lift you up out of this world and put you into a new heaven and a new earth. Are you ready?

If you don't feel ready, ask Him to make you ready. He will.

God, thanks for teaching us that gravity obeys You.
