God Will Run to You: One Year Bible Reading for June 28

Today we read these verses in the One Year Bible:

2 Kings 13:1-14:29
Acts 18:23-19:12
Psalm 146:1-10
Proverbs 18:2-3

Let's look at 2 Kings. We read that there was an evil king who did bad things. But then we had a good king named Jehoahaz who sought the favor of God. And God immediately responded to him and blessed him.

Maybe you feel far away from God today. Maybe you have felt that way for awhile. Well, Jesus told a story about that. He told us about a prodigal son who went away from his father for years and wasted his inheritance on wild living. Then he came to his sense and came home. He planned to basically BEG his father to forgive him and let him tend the animals. But when his father saw him coming toward the house, he RAN TO HIM. And the father in that story represents God. Jesus is clearly telling us that when we take one little step toward God and ask Him to help us, He will run to us.

Do you feel far away? Take one little step toward Him today. Ask Him to help you be a better person and follow Him. And I promise you, He will.

God, thanks for letting us know how ready and willing You are to bring us back home.
