Feel Significant Yet?: Bible Reading from January 8

Hello, and welcome to today's One Year Bible readings. Today we read the following passages:

Genesis 18:16-19:38
Matthew 6:25-7:14
Psalm 8:1-9
Proverbs 2:6-15

What jumped out at me is the Psalm. You might have seen pictures like the one above with the caption "Feel small yet?" or "Does this make you feel insignificant?" Some astronomers (not all) point to the immensity of space and the size of galaxies and say that those facts should make us feel like we're not very important in the grand scheme of things.

But the Psalm for today considers the exact same facts and says, "God, who made all of those amazing wonders, also made me!" Yes, there are immense wonders in the universe. There are also incredible wonders inside our bodies. God has made an amazing universe. We shouldn't feel insignificant because of our size - we should marvel, as David the Psalmist does - that God, who made all of that incredible wonder and detail throughout the cosmos, also took the time to intricately create each one of us.

Feel significant yet?

God, thanks for making such immense wonders that we can only marvel at Your creation.
