St Stephen: What a Crown

Today we celebrate St Stephen, the first martyr. We read about him in the Acts of the apostles. His name means "crown" in Greek, and he obtained the martyr's crown by speaking boldly about Jesus and then forgiving his killers as they stoned him. An interesting thing is that St Paul was standing by while he was stoned, and the killers laid their coats at his feet. This is interesting because when St Stephen forgave his killers and prayed for them, this might have been a grace that led to Paul's conversion. You can read more about him here.

How does God want to work through YOUR life to save those who are far from Him today? How can your forgiveness bring about grace in the life of someone you know?

God, thank You for the wonderful example and life of this young martyr. St Stephen, pray for us.
