Blessed Sara Salkahazi: She Saved Jews from the Nazis

Sara Salkahazi was a chain-smoking, strong minded woman who wasn't sure exactly what she wanted to do in her early life. She did several different things for careers, and was engaged to be married. But she left her jobs and her engagement and became a nun. She worked as a nun in four different jobs, and her health suffered. Her superiors did not allow her to renew her vows out of concern for her health. But she persisted and they relented. She wrote very outspokenly against the Nazis, and they came for her. She was shot and her body was thrown into the Danube river, saving the lives of many Jewish people and thousands of her fellow nuns. You can read more about her here.

What are you prepared to do in the fight against evil? Who will you protect from slavery and abuse? Did you know there are more slaves today, mostly in sex slavery, than ever before? What can you do to help these poor girls? At the very least, let's pray for them. Of course, prayer is the best thing we can do in any situation. But also ask Him to show you what He might want you to do in addition to prayer. And ask for the courage to do it.

God, thanks for the amazing and inspiring example of this strong minded nun. Blessed Sara Salkahazi, pray for us.
