Blessed Giuseppe Toniolo: A Saintly Economics Teacher!

We have an unusual saint in today's readings from the book In Caelo et in Terra. Giuseppe Toniolo was a professor of economics and a husband and father of seven! That doesn't fit the mold of the rest of the saints in these blogs, does it? He taught economics in a very Christian way, though. He emphasized helping the poor and the need for social reform, protecting the rights of workers and preventing exploitation of women and children. You can read more about him here.

Your job may not be particularly "holy" in nature. Maybe you're not a priest or nun. But God is calling you to do your work in a way that pleases Him and helps people. How can you focus on that calling today?

God, thanks for the example of this college professor. Blessed Giuseppe Toniolo, pray for us.
