Blessed Anna Maria Taigi: From Vain Housewife to Mystic, Saint, and Incorruptible

Today in the book In Caelo et in Terra, we read a remarkable story. Anna Maria was born in Siena, Italy in 1769. She married a good man named Tiegi. They had seven children together. For the first few years of their marriage, she was vain and uninterested in spiritual matters.

But one day she made a good confession and had a profound conversion experience. She began to receive visions from God, including some glimpses into the future. She even gave some advice to the pope. She became a third order Trinitarian and many miracles were performed in her life by God. When she died, her body was later found to be incorrupt!

This is an amazing example because she wasn't a nun. She was an "ordinary" housewife and part of a third order, which meant she lived as a regular person but practiced a modified version of the rule of the order, in this case of Trinitarians. So even though she was a normal person like you and me, God did amazing things in her life. You can read more about her here.

In the midst of your normal life, what extraordinary thing is God calling YOU to today? God, thanks for this amazing and regular woman. Blessed Anna Maria Taigi, pray for us.
