Today in the book In Caelo et in Terra, we read about St Peter Damian. He was a very intelligent and holy man who became a priest when God called him to.
He practiced VERY serious penances, so much so that he became ill. After being in several very prominent positions in the church, he obtained permission to become a simple monk, and he spent years in contemplation and in making wooden spoons. That's the life of simplicity that some people thrill in, and are called to. You can read more about him here.
Whether you're called to the prominence of a public position, or the simple life of a wooden spoon maker, I pray that you'll do it with all your heart, as unto God.
God, thanks for this great example of simplicity. St Peter Damian, pray for us.
