Today we read about St Leonie Aviat in the book In Caelo et in Terra. Her life was not terribly remarkable, kind of like her fellow French saint Therese of Liseux. Both of them lived quiet, peaceful, unassuming lives of obedience and holiness. St Leonie is a patroness of educators, and you can read more about her life here.
This is probably encouraging to many people. The fact that she was not a very amazing person. Because for many of us, we can relate to someone who isn't very amazing. Someone who gets by, doesn't rock the boat, is kind to others, and isn't comfortable being too different.
But such people are also used by God to change the world. Every little act of kindness makes the world a better place, and pushes back the forces of darkness.
God, thank You for this quiet, unassuming saint. St Leonie Aviat, pray for us.
