Wow, we read about an amazing young saint today in the little book In Caelo et in Terra. Her name is St Agnes, and you can read more about her here. She was only twelve years old when she was persecuted by the Roman emperor and sent to a brothel, intending that she would be violated by all of the men there. But her hair grew long and covered her nakedness (I'm guessing miraculously, though the version I read didn't specify) and apparently when one man tried to look at her body, he was struck blind. They tried to burn her at the stake, but "that failed" (another aspect of the story I wish we knew more about) and so they beheaded her. Her name means "lamb", so she's often depicted holding a lamb in pictures of her.
She is the patroness of rape victims, and if anyone needs and deserves a patroness it's those poor victims. Say a prayer for those who are caught in the evil web of sex trafficking, that they'll be freed.
God, thanks for the wonderful and inspiring example of this young saint. St Agnes, please pray for us.
