Today in the book In Caelo et in Terra, we read about Blessed Peter Donders. He was an amazing man who spent much of his life ministering to lepers in Batavia. You can read more about him here.
He gave everything to help those who needed help. He traveled all over, baptizing thousands of people, and helping to alleviate the suffering of more people than we can count.
There are millions of suffering people today, too. At the very least, you are called to pray for them. You're also called to help alleviate their suffering by giving of your time, money, and energy to help them. Whether it's helping in a soup kitchen, donating to your local charity, or finding ways to creatively help raise funds and awareness regarding the poor and suffering throughout the world... how is He calling YOU to get involved?
God, thanks for the great example of a man who literally gave everything to love You in the poor. Blessed Peter Donders, pray for us.
