don't be fooled - justice is coming

Today in the One Year Bible, we read from Habakkuk 1:1-3:19. The prophet is praying, and he asks God how long he has to wait while he's watching all of the lying, arguing, and violence happening all around him.

Do you feel that way? Living here in the middle of 2020? Lying and arguing and violence all around you? Well, take heart, because God's answer is for us today, too.

God says, "Just wait. Justice is coming. I'm sending an answer to all of this depravity, and people will get what they deserve."

Now, thankfully He is a God of mercy and forgiveness as well as a God of justice. But that doesn't mean that anything will ever be left unjust. What it DOES mean is that justice is the bare minimum of what we'll receive. What we will ultimately get is either justice - or something much better.

God, thanks for being faithful and just to forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
