a heart for God

Today in the One Year Bible, we read from Ezekiel 44:1-45:12. God tells Ezekiel that the people of Israel were not allowed to enter into the presence of God because they kept sinning and didn't have "a heart for God."

That's something that people can tell about you. If you have a heart for God. I told a friend of mine that this other guy we knew had a heart for God and he laughed, thinking I was joking. But no, I told him. He really did.

What does it mean to have a heart for God? Well, it definitely doesn't mean you'll never sin. No matter who you are, you're gonna make mistakes. You're gonna fall down and need help. Even St Pope John Paul II went to confession. And he went once a week!

But having a heart for God means wanting what God wants. It means putting Him first. It means getting back up and seeking His face every time we fall.

If you don't have a heart for God, but you WANT to... just ask Him. He'll teach you to have a heart for Him.

God, thanks for teaching us to have hearts for You.
