praying for Your people

Today in the One Year Bible, we read from Nehemiah 1:1-3:14. Nehemiah weeps for his people, and then he prays. He asks for God to restore His people and give them a place to worship.

Our country is a mess these days. We are bitterly polarized and have great difficulty finding any common ground. And most of us are far from God. We need to be healed, and we need to be restored.

You and I are, in this sense, called to do the same as Nehemiah. To care so deeply for His people that it brings us to tears. And to pray. To ask God to heal His people and to heal our land.

God, thanks for showing us a good example in Nehemiah.
