He never tires

Today in the One Year Bible, we read from Judges 13:1-14:20. Once AGAIN, the Israelites do evil things, and God gets their attention by allowing a neighboring group to come beat up on them for awhile.

This should encourage us, actually. Because we are so much like the Israelites. We continually mess up, fall away, get distracted by the things of this world. And over and over, God has to get our attention, sometimes by letting other people, even evil people, beat up on us for a little bit.

But it should also encourage you to know that God will never stop forgiving you. He told His disciples that they had to forgive people seventy times seven times. That's 490 times. And that doesn't mean they get to stop forgiving at 491. It just means they should continue to forgive as long as people ask for forgiveness.

And He's not going to ask us to do something He's not willing to do for us. As a very wise person once said, God never tires of forgiving us. Just keep getting up, don't give up, and you can't lose.

God, thanks for forgiving us as many times as we need it.
