His amazing mercy
Today we read from Judges 2:10-3:31 in the One Year Bible. We're told that the people who followed God faithfully all eventually passed away, and a new generation came along that ignored God and served Baal and other local gods instead. This made God very unhappy, and He was very jealous of His people. So He allowed raiders from local towns to come and conquer His people.
But then, He had mercy on them in their distress. He sent them judges to help them to turn back to Him and to find peace again.
Over and over throughout history this has happened. And God's patience never grows old. He is always merciful and forgiving, and always welcomes us back when we turn from our stupid decisions and ask Him to bring peace to our lives again.
If you find yourself far from Him today, just ask Him to bring you back. He'll help you come back, and He'll bring peace to your life once more. No matter what you've done, no matter how many times you've gone away... He never tires of forgiving you.
God, thanks for Your inexaustible mercy.
