God is on a roll
Today in the One Year Bible, we read from Joshua 5:1-7:15. God tells Joshua to circumcise all of the men before they go conquering in the promised land. And it says that He "rolled away their shame" from being slaves in Egypt.
Today is Easter, and we celebrate another rolling away, don't we? Jesus defeated sin and death and burned a copy of Himself into the Shroud of Turin as He rose from the dead, rolling away the stone in front of His tomb since it wasn't needed anymore.
In rolling away that stone, He rolled away YOUR shame from having been a slave to sin. (Mine, too, of course.) So that's one of the things that it means when the Bible says we who follow Jesus will "not be put to shame."
Thank You, God, for rolling away our shame.... and the stone. You set us free! Help us to remain in that freedom.
