what Corona is good for

Today we read a really great verse of advice in Deuteronomy 13:1-15:23 from the One Year Bible. It's so timely for what we're going through these days.

First, though, let me say that I've talked to dozens of people from all walks of life over the last couple weeks. And there is a theme that runs through what they all say, whether they're Buddhists or atheists or Muslims or Christians or don't really know WHAT they believe. They all say that they hope this time of being knocked out of our daily routine will help us to find what's really important in life. That we'll take this time to reconnect with family, to learn things that we've been meaning to, and to focus on what truly matters instead of what's just urgent.

And that brings us to the verse today. God is telling His people not to chase after other gods, but instead.... "Obey His commands, listen to His voice, and cling to Him."

You can spend an hour meditating on those eleven words. Obey His commands. Listen to His voice. And cling to Him.

Don't be afraid. Don't panic. Don't think that God is going to abandon you in the middle of this trying time. He's here for you. Do what He commands: be strong and courageous. Listen to His voice: as He tells you He loves you and will never forsake you. And cling to Him. He's got you.

God, thanks for a very timely reminder.
