Today in the One Year Bible, we read from Leviticus 27:14-Numbers 1:54. God is telling Moses what to do with houses and fields that are dedicated to God. And He tells him that we are not to dedicate our firstborn animals to Him because they belong to Him already.
Which brings up an interesting and thought provoking question: what belongs to God? When we really consider it fully, we realize that all good things belong to Him. Sin and error do not belong to Him. But all THINGS belong to Him, and all of us and our possessions and our good deeds do.
Our deeds?
Yes, because He gives us the desire and the ability to do even the good deeds that we do. Without Him, we wouldn't even exist, and we definitely wouldn't be able to do anything good.
So when you're deciding what to give God out of your generosity... remember: it all belongs to Him already.
Thank You, God, for making us stewards of all that You've made. Help us to be good ones.
