when life makes no sense

Today in the One Year Bible, we read from Exodus 29:1-30:10. God tells Moses to do many things that don't seem to make much sense. Killing bulls and smearing blood and wearing strange clothes.

Looking back at the instructions, they make a great deal of sense. We see the suffering of Jesus and the salvation found in His blood and the priestly garments and we understand why He told him to do those things. But at the time, they must have seemed crazy.

When God speaks into YOUR life, today in 2020, it might seem crazy, too. He might tell you things that make no sense to you. He might ask you to do things that seem pointless or strange. One day we'll look back and we'll understand why He told us to do them. But sometimes it's better for us NOT to know why we're doing things. It keeps us humble. And it forces us to have faith in God and to trust Him.

God, thanks for making sense of our lives.... eventually.
