a foretaste of what's to come
Today in the One Year Bible, we read from Leviticus 7:28-9:6. Moses takes all of the commandments that God has given him, and he dresses the priests for their holy work. They make the sacrifice, and they make holy the children of Israel.
We know, looking back, that they are foreshadowing the work that Jesus would do for us on the cross thousands of years later. But there was a truth and a beauty to what they were doing all in itself.
We are doing something similar today. In our work, in our struggles and our victories... we are seeing a beauty and a truth all its own, here today. But we also know that one day we will look back and see a meaning that was impossible to see from here in the midst of it.
In the meantime, here with the foretaste of what's to come... let's not forget to love one another. That's what it's all about.
God, thanks for reminding us that this is just a foretaste of what's to come.
