what love does
Today in the One Year Bible, we read from 1 Peter 4:7-5:14. Peter tells us three good things to remember. First, he says that the end of the world is coming soon. Keep in mind, he wrote that about 2000 years ago. So "soon" may not be quite what we think of it as. Second, he says to love one another, because love covers a multitude of sins. And that's a good thing, because we have plenty of sins that need covering. And finally (and very appropriately this week) he says to cheerfully share your home with people who need a good meal or a place to stay. Since Thursday is Thanksgiving, that seems like good and timely advice.
In fact, it's good to take all of that advice together. Keeping in mind that the world will end "soon", let's love one another as we share a meal on Thanksgiving day.
God, thanks for timely reminders.
