who gives us hope

Today in the One Year Bible, we read from 1 Timothy 1:1-20. Paul says that Jesus is the one "who gives us hope."

And that, by itself, is worth pondering. He gives us hope when no one or nothing else does. He is THE SOURCE of hope. All hope for goodness or truth or beauty or love come ultimately from Him.

And the good news is that the hope we place in Him will never be disappointed. We might expect the wrong thing from Him (like if you're expecting a million dollars or a new Ferrari), but as long as we learn to expect the right things (which are most important anyway), He will never let us down.

God, thanks for being our source for hope.
