Today we read from 2 Thessalonians 1:1-12 in the One Year Bible. Paul commends the church in Thessalonica for growing in faith and loving one another.
That kinda sums it up, doesn't it? Anything that helps you to grow your faith and love other people you should do more of. Anything that prevents those things from happening you should stop. Sounds easy, right?
Well, it IS simple. But it takes most people a lifetime to master it. The good news is we're not expected to do this overnight. God knows we're human, and that it takes time to grow our faith and love other people.
So keep plugging away. Don't give up. Keep your eyes on the goal ahead: growing your faith, and loving other people. One day you'll find yourself doing it naturally, without effort.
God, thanks for making it simple. Please help us to do it.
