loving God less
Today Paul tells us about a conundrum in our One Year Bible reading from 2 Corinthians 12:11-21. He says that it seems like the more he loves the Corinthians, the less they love him.
You've probably experienced this phenomenon when dating. The more you love someone, the less they seem interested in you. Of course, eventually you find someone who loves you the way you love them, and you get married. But until then, it's a constant game of one person loving the other too much and pushing them away with that love.
God, of course, loves us more than we can imagine. And it's possible for that love to push US away from Him as well. We have to fight against that tendency. We have to allow His love to enter our hearts, and become love from us to Him. We also have to learn to love other people with His love. Once that love is flowing through our lives, it becomes less likely for love to push us away from Him or away from others.
But it's always a danger, and one we need to look out for. If you feel yourself being pushed away from God or others by their love, ask Him to fill your heart with love... that will keep that "pushing" from happening.
God, thanks for loving us so much that it causes problems.
