Today Paul tells us like it is in Romans 7:14-8:8 in the One Year Bible. He says that sin inside of us makes us do what we know is wrong and don't want to do, and that leads to death. But the Spirit of God in us leads us to do the thing we know is right, and that leads to life and peace. You might think to yourself "I need to make myself follow the Spirit and stop following the sin in me," but you can't. What you CAN do is ask God to grow that Spirit in you, and to weaken - and then kill - that sin in you. That might involve some suffering. But it will bring you life and peace.
God, please help us follow Your spirit - and kill the sin in us.
